Thank you for your suggestion! We will keep it in mind, as we move towards the pathfinding stage. Do you happen to have a good link to a paper or website with additional details on the kind of algorithm you are proposing?

I don't know if you are already familiar with what I'm about to say, but anyway:
For the IA, you should try to use place-cells to mark a number of spots to implement path finding: the IA put a cell every now and then, and every cell is linked with the previous one. Some special cells contains important informations like "the door is here". In this way, the IA is able to follow the string of cells to the door.
Alternatively, it can also put cells on every spots it has in sight, linking them afterwards. In this way, creating a full cells-map faster.
After some research I made, the best approach to path-finding is still the random search, with reinforcement for the useful paths, if you want to construct a full cell-map of the map. Of course this random search is still using all informations in sight: obstacles, important objects...
Hope it can help!

Thank you for your interest! We're hoping that people will begin playing regularly on the servers, so that we can build a community around the game. If you want to be informed when there are people playing, you can join the #legesmotus IRC channel on irc.freenode.net, which has a bot that tells us when people join servers. Hope to see you in the channel and the game!
